Natick Selectman Joshua Ostroff received a special recognition at last month’s annual meeting of the Metropolitan Area Planning Council
. Ostroff was given the Theodore Mann Regional Leadership Award, named for Newton’s longest-serving mayor, which recognizes a municipal leader from Greater Boston whose commitment to regional collaboration best exemplifies Mann’s legacy. The planning council’s president, Michelle Ciccolo, said in a statement that Ostroff has contributed greatly to both the agency and the region, and cited his inspirational enthusiasm, vision, and willingness to serve. Ostroff previously served as president of the Massachusetts Municipal Association, where he coordinated with the planning agency on municipal health insurance policy and transportation advocacy. He has also served for three years as chairman of the MetroWest Regional Collaborative, where he has advocated for a Route 9 “smart growth” plan to guide its development.
