Mary Patchett, a Hospice of the North Shore Greater Boston RN and Newburyport resident was named the 2013 recipient of the Annual Kathleen Schroot Memorial Award during National Nurses week in May.
Hospice of the North Shore Greater Boston President Diane Stinger presented Patchett with the award saying that Patchett, a nurse with the nonprofit organization for the last 19 years, exemplified the traits that Kathleen was so well known for: compassion, grace, commitment to collaboration, and an acceptance of others.
Schroot, a long-time Hamilton resident was the first registered nurse hired at Hospice of the North Shore Greater Boston in 1989. In 2010 Schroot passed away at the Kaplan Family Hospice House after a long illness
