As summer temperatures soar in Massachusetts, RCN Boston is again launching its free ice cream truck route in Greater Boston this month for the seventh year in a row, company officials announced today.
Anyone living in Boston or communities west can find out the free ice cream truck’s schedule via the company’s Twitter handle, RCNBoston1. RCN officials said the truck will be in Framingham on July 8 and in Hyde Park on July 15; residents can check RCN’s Facebook page for exact times and locations.
Residents who live in RCN service areas can also try and convince the company to send the truck to their neighborhood by tweeting @RCNBoston1, including a reason why free ice cream should be delivered to them and their neighbors.
The contest will start July 8 and the winners chosen on July 22.
Areas eligible for RCN service — and possible ice cream truck appearances — include Allston, Arlington, Boston, Brighton, Brookline, Burlington, Dedham, Dorchester, Framingham, Hyde Park, Lexington, Milton, Natick, Needham, Newton, Roslindale, Somerville, Stoneham, Wakefield, Waltham, Watertown, West Roxbury and Woburn.
“Our ice cream truck tour is a unique event that we look forward to every summer,” said Jeff Carlson, RCN vice president and general manager. “The tour is part of the company’s movement to build strong, long-lasting relationships with local communities through personal outreach. It shows our customers that we want to be an active member of their daily lives, and it also gives everyone a great excuse to eat ice cream.”
The truck will be wrapped in RCN’s distinctive blue and green colors.
In addition to the free ice cream goodies, RCN staff will be on hand at the truck to provide local residents with information regarding the company’s products and services.
