Boston Foundation invests in urban neighborhood

Every city contains a number of gorgeous neighborhoods, full of attractive housing options, successful storefronts and even some green areas in a sea of concrete. Boston, a seaside urban area seeped in history, is certainly no different. But how are some Bostonian communities able to remain esthetically pleasing?

The simple answer is that some, like the Fairmount Corridor, see investments  from generous foundations. According to the Boston Business Journal, the Boston Foundation recently extended a $10 million pledge to this area, consisting of a 9.2 mile stretch along the Metro Boston Transit Authority’s Fairmount train line.

There are specific plans for this money. For instance, the news source reported that $225,000 will go toward the Family Independence Initiative to spur social projects, while a small business incubator will be created by the Dorchester Bay Economic Development Corporation with a $100,000 investment.

The Boston Foundation has been in operation since 1915 and is a self-proclaimed civic leader dedicated to ensuring Bostonians are successful and flourishing. There are a number of focus areas for this organization including education, health projects, neighborhood initiatives and cultural efforts, among others.

Organizations that are providing funds for multiple nonprofit programs might find it easier to manage their large-scale efforts with fundraising management programs that can account for funds as they are disbursed to recipients.
