North Shore Medical Center named to U.S. News  World Report best hospitals lists


NORTH OF BOSTONU.S. News World Report has named the North Shore Medical Center has been ranked as one of the best hospitals in Greater Boston and Massachusetts. North Shore Medical Center was also designated as a high-performing hospital in both Geriatrics and Pulmonology based on patient survival, safety and volume.

“It is the dedication and achievement of our nurses, physicians and staff who make the care at NSMC so exceptional,” says Robert G. Norton, NSMC President and CEO.  “We are so grateful to our patients for their trust and confidence and share this extraordinary recognition, not only with some of the best hospitals in the nation, but with each and every patient who turns to us for care.”

Other well-known medical centers from Greater Boston were listed, including Massachusetts General Hospital, Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.

The rankings recognize how the hospitals treats the most challenging patients, and evaluates hospitals in 16 adult specialties. It ranks the nation’s top 50 hospitals while also recognizing other high-performing hospitals that provide care at nearly the level of their nationally ranked peers.

“A hospital that emerges from our analysis as one of the best has much to be proud of,” said Avery Comarow, U.S. News health-rankings editor. “Only about 15 percent of hospitals are recognized for their high performance as among their region’s best.”

The data used to produce these rankings was provided by by RTI International, a leading research organization based in North Carolina. The full rankings have been published here.
