SEATTLE — Officers advised a reportedly very drunk Bostonian not to seek vigilante justice against the group of eight men who attacked and robbed him early Tuesday in downtown Seattle.
According to the Seattle Police Department’s report for the incident, the victim, a man from Boston who is currently traveling across the country, was walking in the 100 block of Pine Street around 4 a.m. when a group of men asked him for a cigarette.
He told officers he ignored the men because he didn’t know them and didn’t want any trouble.
The men then asked if the victim wanted any pot. When he said no, they grabbed him and started punching him, according to the report.
The victim told officers he thought there were eight men involved in the attack, and one of them took his wallet and cellphone. According to the report, the man bit the victim’s finger when he tried to get the phone and wallet back.
The victim told officers he had been searching for the men for the past 30 minutes. When asked what he was going to do when he found them, the victim responded, “vigilante justice,” according to the report.
Officers advised against that type of action and told the victim, who appeared highly intoxicated, he would be better off just getting some rest.
Officers gave the victim a ride back to his hostel.
