Cannamed of Thousand Oaks, California is now offering medical marijuana consultations in both Southern California and the greater Boston area (Farmington). The Initiative Petition for a Law for the Humanitarian Medical Use of Marijuana that passed pursuant to Amendment Article 48 of the Massachusetts Constitution has opened the door for California’s top medical marijuana consultation center to now operate in the Boston area.
Cannamed’s president, Louis J. Rosner, M.D., is a retired professor of neurology at UCLA. Dr. Rosner taught neurology, did research, and saw new patients at UCLA Medical Center until his retirement in 2000. He ran the UCLA Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Clinic, and wrote “Multiple Sclerosis: New Hope and Practical Advice for Patients and their Families,” which is highly regarded within the MS community. In the book, he discusses the value of marijuana use in patients with MS.
Dr. Rosner is well-versed in the use of medical marijuana for pain management. He advises that medical marijuana should be recommended to patients by doctors who are knowledgeable in pain management. He also states that a thorough physical examination should be given, not a virtual conference online, before the recommendation is given. Doctors at medical marijuana clinics approve or recommend marijuana but do not prescribe it.
Conditions in which marijuana is valuable include chronic pain conditions such as arthritis, fibromyalgia, cervical disc disease, lumbar disc disease, carpal tunnel syndrome, post-herpetic neuralgia, plantar fasciitis, menstrual cramps, migraine headaches, and peripheral neuropathy.
It can also be very effective in mood disorders, including anxiety, panic attacks, bipolar disorder, depression, and post-traumatic stress disorder.
Other conditions that are responsive to marijuana include insomnia, anorexia, asthma, glaucoma, acid reflux, irritable bowel syndrome, Crohn’s disease, chemotherapy side effects, nausea and vomiting, menopause, epilepsy, restless legs syndrome, and sleep apnea.

Step 3. Schedule an appointment to see the doctor.
