On August 22nd the Boston Celtics and Sun Life Financial joined together to host an exercise fit clinic at the Boston Celtics practice facility for the youth of YMCA of Greater Boston. Thirty five youth members got a chance to check out the Celtics’ practice facility and shoot some hoops with new and old Boston Celtics.
The Celtics of note who were there were new additions Marshon Brooks and assistant coach and former player Walter McCarty. Another name of note who attended the event was former Celtics’ player Dana Barros.
Sun Life President Wes Thompson and Vice President Ed Milano were on hand along with the YMCA of Greater Boston president and CEO Kevin Washington. The youth who attended received goody bags with memorabilia signed by Brooks, McCarty and Barros.
The Celtics have been partners with Sun Life since the 2010-11 season. They have had multiple events similar to this one since their partnership. “The Celtics players in attendance took a hands-on role in getting the kids participating in all of the exercises and drills they had planned for the program.
Its always good to see community outreach from our Celtics. Its good to know that Brooks and McCarty have taken to the community already and are having a positive influence on things. Hopefully we’ll see more things like this in the near future from Sun Life and the Boston Celtics.
