Arrest made in Montgomery’s 39th homicide of 2013

MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) –

The Montgomery Police Department says it has made an arrest in the city’s 39th homicide of 2013, a stabbing death Monday night.

Authorities are now arresting and charging 23-year-old Demetrius McBride of Montgomery with one count of murder in connection to the death of 30-year-old Zamian Land, also of Montgomery.

McBride was taken to the Montgomery County Detention Facility where he’s being held on a bond of $75,000.

MPD and Fire Medics responded to the 4500 block of Rainbow Road at about 8:30 p.m. after receiving a report of a person stabbed. At the scene, they located the victim, who was transported to Baptist Medical Center South where he later was pronounced dead.

MPD’s initial investigation indicates that the stabbing was a result of an argument and an investigation identified McBride as the suspect.

No additional information is available for release relative to this ongoing investigation.

Police ask individuals with knowledge of this homicide to call CrimeStoppers at 215-STOP, Secret Witness at 262-4000, or the Montgomery Police Department at 625-2831.
