Charitable foundation donates to Waltham-based REACH

The Rockland Trust Charitable Foundation has announced a $10,000 donation to REACH Beyond Domestic Violence, a Waltham nonprofit organization dedicated to ending domestic violence and building healthy communities throughout Greater Boston.

The grant will help fund the organization’s support services and resources, according to the foundation, as well as its 2013 Reach for the Stars Gala, which REACH will hold at the Moakley Courthouse in Boston on Oct. 19 during Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

“Rockland Trust shares REACH’s mission of strengthening and supporting our local communities,” said Ralph R. Valente, senior vice president and director of the Rockland Trust Charitable Foundation. “Our long-standing partnership helps REACH achieve its goals to continue spreading awareness and ending domestic violence.”

The 10th annual Reach for the Stars Gala invites attendees to bid on pieces designed by local and national artists, travel and culinary packages, sports tickets, and unique experiences. The gala will include gourmet tastings and cocktails, silent and live auctions, a seated dinner, dessert and dancing. REACH will also honor former Middlesex district attorney and current partner at Nixon Peabody, Gerry Leone, for his dedication to ending domestic violence.

“The goal of REACH and of the gala is to empower individuals to speak out against domestic and dating violence,” said Laura Van Zandt, executive director of REACH. “During Domestic Violence Awareness Month, this is especially important. We are grateful to have the continued support of Rockland Trust to help us spread awareness and offer support services throughout the Greater Boston area.”
