NEC-GBL merger proposal defeated

LYNN — A proposal to allow four Greater Boston League schools and Masconomet Regional into the Northeastern Conference has been voted down by the principals of the 11 current NEC schools.

The vote, held Friday morning at Classical, saw five schools voting in favor of the merger and six against. In order to pass, the proposal needed eight votes because adding members to the league required an amendment to the constitution.
