The annual bazaar of St. Stephen’s Armenian Apostolic Church of Greater Boston, held in Watertown, offers a lot — silent and live auction, harvest store, attic treasures, books — but the highlight is the food. At the 57th annual bazaar, you’ll find shish kebab plates on offer, but head first for the bakery and get there early. Look for katah (a sweet butter bread), choreg (sweet bread), khadayif (phyllo with cream and/or walnut filling), savory boreg (pastries with cheese and spinach), paklava (a form of baklava), and Armenian simit (sesame bread-like cookies). On the savory side are tourshi (picked vegetables), yalanchi (meatless stuffed grape leaves), and manti (tiny ravioli with meat). Traditional Armenian cooking is kept alive by the women of St. Stephen’s. Annual bazaar of Saint Stephen’s Armenian Apostolic Church of Greater Boston, held Nov. 1 and 2 from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. at the Armenian Cultural and Educational Center, 47 Nichols Ave., Watertown.
