SOUTH SHORE ENTREPRENEUR: No shopping necessary

It’s all about giving back, said Boston resident Jan Leife, who founded Just Add Cooking with fellow Swede Anders Lindell in March.

“When we moved to the United States, we started looking for a ‘Just Add Cooking service’ since we had used this fantastic service for many years back home in Sweden. We were really surprised when we couldn’t find it here in the Greater Boston area,” said Lindell.

“We believe it’s time for American families to reclaim their kitchen and start eating healthy, home-cooked dinners, enjoying the time together and teaching the kids how to cook.”

The company, which has two employees plus subcontractors and consultants, delivers meal kits directly to doorsteps. Each box arrives filled with fresh ingredients – locally sourced, organic and in-season when possible – along with recipes to use them. Families need to spend 30 minutes cooking the meal. No meal planning or grocery shopping is needed, said Lindell.

Customers can choose from three, four or five meals in a box. All the ingredients, including spices, are provided.

The focus is on healthy, well-balanced menus created by a company chef along with a dietitian. According to the company website, www.justaddcooking.com, a three-meal box for four persons costs $107 ($8.92 per portion); a four-meal box for four is $127 ($7.94 per portion); and a five-meal box for four is $139 ($6.95 per portion). Delivery is included in the price.

The company delivers to parts of the South Shore. To find out if you live in its delivery area, go to the website and plug in your zip code.
