Boston digs out from almost 10 inches of heavy wet snow while another storm …

BOSTON — The Greater Boston area is digging out from almost ten inches of heavy wet snow that fell on the region Wednesday.

The storm flipped back and forth between rain and snow in the late afternoon, creating the potential for icy conditions later this evening when temperatures are expected to plunge into the teens.

Another storm looms this weekend, though forecasters are still unsure as to when or if it will strike the Greater Boston area.

“We’re focused on getting the city cleaned up in advance of the expected cold temperatures and any snow that comes our way this weekend,” said Boston Mayor Martin J. Walsh.

Over 500 pieces of snow removal equipment are out actively working in the city tonight, according to the mayor’s office.

This was Walsh’s second major snowstorm as mayor. There were no apparent problems with snow removal, traffic, or the MBTA at press time.
