A Winter Storm Warning is in effect for the greater Boston area while a blizzard warning has been declared for coastal communities on the North and South Shores.
The National Weather Service is projecting 8-10 inches of snow in most eastern Massachusetts communities though some areas on the South Shore could see upwards of 14 inches of snow. The snow is expected to continue to fall until early Sunday morning.
Minor flooding is also a possibility on Cape Cod and the islands.

Saturday Afternoon: Snow, mainly after 2 p.m.. High near 37. Northeast wind 9 to 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. Total daytime snow accumulation of 2 to 4 inches possible.
Tonight: Snow with areas of blowing snow before 3 a.m. then a slight chance of snow between 3 a.m. and 4 a.m. The snow could be heavy at times. Low around 22. Blustery, with a northwest wind 18 to 25 mph, with gusts as high as 48 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New snow accumulation of 5 to 9 inches possible.
Sunday: Sunny, with a high near 28. West wind 16 to 18 mph, with gusts as high as 28 mph.
Sunday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 12. Wind chill values as low as zero. West wind around 14 mph.
Washington’s Birthday: Sunny, with a high near 26. Northwest wind 11 to 14 mph.
Monday Night: A chance of snow, mainly after 2am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 18. Chance of precipitation is 40%.
