RE “WALSH pushes for gay groups in parade” (Page A1, Feb. 27): As the granddaughter of a former state representative from South Boston, I am disappointed at the bigotry that continues to scar the neighborhood. I have to point out that Irish Catholics in Greater Boston, in contrast to suggestions made in the article, have long embraced our gay sisters, brothers, cousins, friends and co-workers. The implication that the Irish community is biased against gays is simply not reflective of the greater group.
Too bad a guy who goes by the name of “Wacko” is portrayed as the face of the Irish-American community in Boston.
