Boston Weather Forecast: A welcome respite from the cold ahead

According to the National Weather Service if you can hold on through the cold today there is a bit of a warm-up coming your way.

After temperatures that will remain in the 20s today, the Greater Boston area will experience a 10-15 degree warm-up beginning on Friday with temps reaching into the high 30s or even the low 40s.

The mellower temperatures should remain with us throughout the weekend despite the fact that the area could experience an intermittent snow shower, especially on Saturday evening when a weak cold front pushes through.

Apparently we are not out of the winter weather as yet, as some meteorological models are calling for some stormy weather midweek. Stay tuned.

Today: Sunny, with a high near 26. North wind 6 to 10 mph.

Tonight: Clear, with a low around 17. Light and variable wind.

Friday: Sunny, with a high near 39. Southeast wind 3 to 7 mph.

Friday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 28. Southeast wind around 6 mph becoming light and variable after midnight.

Saturday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 46. Northwest wind 5 to 8 mph.

Saturday Night: A slight chance of snow showers after 11pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 29. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Sunday: Partly sunny, with a high near 38.

Sunday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 26.

Monday: Partly sunny, with a high near 41.
