Boston Weather Forecast: 1 to 3 inches of snow possible tonight

The National Weather Service has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook for 1-3 inches of snow tonight.

The precipitation should start with a rain/snow mix mainly north of the Massachusetts / Rhode Island / Connecticut borders, with rain generally to the south of the border.

There may be some sleet mixing in across the higher terrain of the Monadnocks and Northern Worcester Hills that may bring a light accumulation.

Winds may become gusty on Thursday as yet another cold front works its way through the Greater Boston area. A few snow showers may also linger over the Cape and the Islands.

Today Mostly sunny, with a high near 42. East wind 8 to 11 mph.

Tonight Rain and snow likely before 1am, then rain. Low around 34. East wind around 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. Little or no snow accumulation expected.

Thursday Rain likely, mainly before noon. Cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly sunny, with a high near 50. South wind 9 to 14 mph becoming west in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.

Thursday Night Partly cloudy, with a low around 32. West wind around 13 mph, with gusts as high as 24 mph.

Friday Mostly sunny, with a high near 45. West wind 15 to 18 mph, with gusts as high as 28 mph.

Friday Night Partly cloudy, with a low around 30.

Saturday A chance of rain and snow between 9am and 10am, then a chance of rain after 10am. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 49. Chance of precipitation is 40%.
