More people flock to Faneuil Hall Marketplace each year than to Disney World, the Eiffel Tower, and the Great Wall of China.
Faneuil Hall ranked 7th on a list of the 50 most-visited tourist attractions in the world, according to research by the site lovehomeswap.com.
The site pinpointed the most iconic destinations around the globe and researched how many people visit them annually. Faneuil Hall Marketplace, in 7th place, boasts 18,000,000 visitors per year. The site described Faneuil Hall as follows: “The backdrop of many famous speeches, this marketplace also has an array of dining and shopping options. Stop to watch a street performer or check out one of the many entertainment and music events.”
Faneuil Hall Marketplace, located near the waterfront in downtown Boston, offers visitors more than 70 local and national retailers as well as street performers galore. A vast array of cuisine is available in the world-famous Quincy Market Colonnade. Built in 1742 by wealthy merchant Peter Faneuil, this “Cradle of Liberty” is part of the Freedom Trail and has been the backdrop for speakers ranging from Susan B. Anthony to Ted Kennedy to Bill Clinton.
