A Sudbury resident has been named to the board for the YMCA of Greater Boston, with his knack for working with the community cited as the main reason why.
David Porter, who is the owner and managing partner of Baystate Financial, was added as the newest member of the YMCA of Greater Boston general board on a three year term.
“Porter’s ‘people first’ philosophy makes him a perfect match for the Y,” the organization said in announcing the move. “
The Sudbury resident is “extremely active” in the Boston community, and helped establish the Baystate Financial Charitable Foundation in 1999. That group raises money in an effort to support local area charities.
“Porter will serve the YMCA of Greater Boston board for three years, helping to govern and lead the more than 160-year-old institution and ensure that the Y delivers on its mission to strengthen the foundations of community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility,” the YMCA said.
