Boston-based alcohol delivery service Drizly has expanded its services once again, adding another city to the growing list of major metropolitans that can use the company’s smartphone app.
Drizly launched yesterday in Chicago, and the company will service most of the city. It marks the company’s first expansion west. After initially rolling out in Boston, Drizly has grown to cover more of the Greater Boston area, Manhattan, and Brooklyn.
Drizly’s services in Chicago will cover South Loop, Loop, West Loop, River North, Gold Coast, Streeterville, Wrigleyville, Lakeview, Old Town, Lincoln Park, Wicker Park, and Bucktown.
Nick Rellas, co-founder and chief executive of Drizly, made a brief statement on the expansion, saying, “Chicagoans are ready for a smarter way to purchase alcohol.”
Michael DiLorenzo, the senior vice president of marketing at Drizly, told me, “Chicago is an ideal city for Drizly. You’ve got the right demographic. An ideal city layout. And the retail community has really embraced the concept and the team we sent out in advance to get the city set up.”
Currently, there are a few company’s that do alcohol delivery in Chicago, including a small company called THIRSTIE.
Available on the iPhone and Android devices, new Drizly members can get $10 off their orders by using the code “WELCOMECHI” at checkout for any order placed in May as part of a promotion coinciding with the launch.
