BOSTON — Gauri P. Punjabi, an attorney in the Employment, Labor Benefits Section of Mintz, Levin, Cohn, Ferris, Glovsky and Popeo, P.C. and President of the South Asian Bar Association of Greater Boston (SABA GB), accepted the South Asian Bar Association of North America’s Outstanding Chapter Award on behalf of the Greater Boston Chapter. Ms. Punjabi received the award at SABA North America’s 11th annual convention in Chicago, Illinois on June 21st. This is the first time the Greater Boston chapter has won this award.
The SABA North America Outstanding Chapter Award is given to the local SABA chapter which has shown the greatest improvement and development over the past year. Such advancements include: the growth in membership of the chapter; the rise in prominence of the chapter in the local community; the fundraising efforts of the chapter; the diversity of programming offered by the chapter; the community service and public interest efforts of the chapter and the chapter’s support of SABA North America.
For the past 10 years, SABA GB has served as the regional voice for the concerns and opinions of South Asians in the community and provided a forum for professional networking and development, legal scholarship and education. SABA GB works with other bar associations, governmental agencies and community groups to achieve greater involvement in and understanding of the issues facing the South Asian community of Greater Boston.
Ms. Punjabi’s employment law practice covers the full scope of employment law issues and encompasses a wide range of industries, including hospitality, nonprofit organizations, technology, and health care. She regularly represents clients in employment related litigation, including discrimination claims, non-compete and trade secret issues, and employment contracts. Ms. Punjabi counsels clients throughout the entire process from the initial filing through representation in the courts. She advises small businesses, large corporations, and nonprofit organizations on employment issues arising under federal, state and local laws and regulations.
