Wegmans announces opening date for Burlington grocery store

Wegmans Food Markets has announced the opening date for its newest store in the Boston area.

The grocery store chain announced Monday it will open its Burlington store on Sunday, Oct. 26 at 7 a.m.

The Burlington Wegmans is nearly double the size of the company’s Chestnut Hill store. The 135,000 square-foot supermarket will feature and wine and liquor store that includes a Market Cafe with indoor and outdoor seating.

Wegmans says the indoor seating area is located on the mezzanine level, giving customers a view of the store.

Wegmans has previously opened two other locations in Northborough and Chestnut Hill.

The company’s third location in the state is part of a larger retail development under construction on 3rd Avenue in Burlington. 

The company says it is hiring for part-time positions from chefs to customer service representatives. The company says the Burlington store will employ approximately 600 people, with approximately 200 full-time positions currently being filled.
