Boston, MA 08/28/2014 (wallstreetpr) – According to reports, Comcast Corporation (NASDAQ:CMCSA) has decided to offer six months of Amnesty Program and complimentary internet services in Boston and across the various cities of US. The announcement was made by Steve Hackley, Senior vice president of CMCSA’s Greater Boston Region on the occasion of starting internet essentials at the Boston Centers for Youth Families Perkins Community Center in Dorchester. Hackley was joined by Rookie Marcus Smart; Boston Celtics and Felix Arroyo; city of Boston Chief of Health and Human Services. It is one of the broadband initiatives taken by CMCSA to facilitate low-cost internet in that area.

According to reports, Comcast Corporation (NASDAQ:CMCSA) announced that it would provide complimentary internet service to all those families in Boston who take services of the company for the first time. The offer will be same for all those families across US, which have never applied for internet essentials. Those families whose application will be approved on or before September 20, 2014, will get complimentary internet service for up to six months.
Internet has become one of the most important things in routine life, especially in last three-four years. According to a survey, internet essentials have connected around 1.4 million low-income Americans or 350,000 families to the power of the internet. People not only use the internet for personal usage, but also for commercial purposes. As per the information provided by Comcast Corporation (NASDAQ:CMCSA), around 6,000 families in Massachusetts and 1,000 families in Boston have started using the internet over the past couple of years. These are low-income Americans who can’t afford to buy expensive services.
Other than the normal plan, Comcast Corporation (NASDAQ:CMCSA) also announced an amnesty program for those families who had past due balance, but could qualify for the internet essential program. The management of CMCSA clarified that the program is available in 39 states and the District of Columbia. Company is also planning to expand its services in other parts of the country as well in the near future.
