The Massachusetts Gaming Commission Monday began a final review of the two competing proposals for a resort casino in greater Boston.
The proposed design of Mohegan Sun’s $1.1 billion dollar casino in Revere received a more positive evaluation than did Wynn Resorts’ proposed design for a casino in Everett. But Wynn’s $1.6 billion dollar project was found to be more financially sound. Both projects will be judged in several categories before the commissioners begin their final deliberations and possibly vote by weeks end to award a license. Commissioner Enrique Zunica signaled it will be a close call.
Massachusetts voters in November will have the final say on whether any casinos are built in the state. The commission has promised the lone western Massachusetts casino license to MGM Springfield.
