BOSTON – Kaplan Construction, a general contractor and construction management firm providing comprehensive building programs to commercial, healthcare, multi-family, worship, institutional, and historic rehabilitation/adaptive reuse clients across Greater Boston, announced the culmination of a three-year management transition. Nathan Peck has been promoted to president and Jane Kaplan Peck has been appointed chief operating officer (COO). Company founders Ken and Cathy Kaplan have taken on new roles as chairman of the board and senior advisor, respectively.
Founded in 1976, Kaplan Construction’s highly experienced staff has worked together for many years, building a strong resume of renovation and new construction projects along the way. The company’s long history of professional teamwork and collaboration, combined with detailed planning and thoughtful execution, provides clients with optimal results: well-built, cost-effective, and timely projects.

Nathan Peck, President
Nathan Peck joined Kaplan Construction in 2012 as a senior project manager with more than 10 years of experience in the construction industry. In his role as president, Nate is committed to continuing and furthering the level of quality, service and professionalism that has become Kaplan’s signature over the past 38 years. Nate is responsible for providing strategic direction, fostering and maintaining client relationships and overseeing the management of projects. Nate has brought building information modeling (BIM) and other technological resources to Kaplan, streamlining processes and increasing efficiencies. Previously, Nate served as a senior project manager for the Boston office of Turner Construction, where he filled a wide range of construction roles, including preconstruction, estimating, scheduling, budget control/management, management of self-performed work, safety, and overall project management. Nate is a member of the National Association of Industrial and Office Properties (NAIOP), and the Brookline Community Foundation Building Committee. He earned a Bachelor of Science in civil engineering from Union College in Schenectady, N.Y.
Jane Kaplan Peck, Chief Operating Officer
As Chief Operating Officer for Kaplan Construction and majority owner, Jane Kaplan Peck, LEED AP is responsible for the company’s day-to-day operations. In this role, Jane oversees business financial planning, working capital management, and budget development for the company. In short, she ensures Kaplan’s financial security and viability. As the second generation of the Kaplan Construction family, Jane has been immersed in the construction industry since a young age and has acquired a deep understanding of the business. Jane’s previous roles at Kaplan include project manager and financial and administrative manager. Before joining Kaplan in 2006, Jane served as an assistant project manager at Shawmut Design and Construction and as a project assistant/analyst at Leggat McCall Properties. Jane is a member of Associated Builders and Contractors, Inc. (ABC) and is on the Board of Trustees for its Massachusetts Workers’ Compensation Self-Insurance Group (SIG). She is also a member of New England Women in Real Estate (NEWiRE). Jane earned a Bachelor of Arts in managerial economics from Union College in Schenectady, N.Y.
Ken Kaplan, Founder/Chairman of the Board
Ken Kaplan founded Kaplan Construction in 1976, and steadily grew the firm over the past 38 years. At his core, Ken is passionate about building. His client-focused approach and personal investment in every project have helped Kaplan earn an outstanding reputation within the industry for high-quality, cost-effective construction services. In his role as Chairman of the Board, Ken provides executive leadership for the company by working closely with the President and COO to establish long-range goals, strategies, plans, and policies. As a strategic partner, he provides industry-specific advice and knowledge and offers solutions to business challenges. Ken is a member of the Associated Builders and Contractors, Inc. (ABC) and participated on its Board of Directors for many years. In addition, he has served on the Town of Brookline’s permanent Building Commission for more than a decade. Ken earned his Bachelor of Arts in economic geography from Syracuse University, and studied at the Boston Architectural College.
Cathy Kaplan, Founder/Senior Advisor
Cathy Kaplan co-founded Kaplan Construction with her husband Ken in 1976. With more than 40 years of experience as a manager and administrator, she serves as overseer and advisor to the current management team, using her expert communication skills to facilitate employee and client relationships. A founding member of the Associated Builders and Contractors, Inc. (ABC) Massachusetts Workers’ Compensation Self Insurance Group (SIG), Cathy has served in leadership positions since its inception in 1993. In addition, she is a former member of New England Women in Real Estate (NEWiRE), and previously served on the Harvard Pilgrim Health Care Member Appeals Committee. An alumnus of Cornell University, Cathy holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology. She also attended Harvard School of Public Health, where she earned a Master of Science degree in Health Policy and Management.
