The state gambling commission, through its top lawyer, has rejected claims from a corporate officer of Suffolk Downs that a Wynn Resorts casino proposal cannot legally go forward. Suffolk Downs secretary Charles A. Baker III asked commissioners on Oct. 8 to reconsider their choice of Wynn’s Everett-based project as the winner of the Greater Boston resort casino license, raising questions about the project’s viability and citing recent indictments against several sellers of the Everett property where Wynn wants to build. Catherine Blue, the commission’s general counsel, responded by letter Friday, saying she disagreed “with your characterization of the facts” and “your interpretation of the commission’s regulations.”
