Greater Boston Chamber to honor the region’s ‘Ten Outstanding Young Leaders …




The Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce is set to salute its 2014 Ten Outstanding Young Leaders with an award whose previous recipients include President John F. Kennedy and conductor Leonard Bernstein.

This year’s awards presentation is scheduled to take place at a Wednesday evening event at the Westin Boston Waterfront Hotel.

Honorees for 2014 include Thabiti Brown, principal of Codman Academy Charter Public School; National Grid executive Jorge Calzada; Michelle Dipp, MD, chief executive and co-founder of OvaScience Inc.; Jonathan Feinman, founder and executive director of InnerCity Weightlifting;  and US Represenative Joseph P. Kennedy III, a Brookline Democrat.

Also in line for awards are Akhil Nigam, founder and president of MassChallenge; Christine Pace, MD, an assistant professor at Boston University School of Medicine; Boston City Councilor at-large Ayanna Pressley; Michael Reardon, executive director of Catholic Schools Foundation and the Inner City Scholarship Fund; and Brooke Thurston, vice president of media relations for Steward Heath Care System.

The Ten Outstanding Young Leaders Awards were presented by the Boston Jaycees from 1952 to 2006 as a way to identify and celebrate Greater Boston’s young leaders. After a five-year hiatus, the Chamber resumed these awards in 2012.

To date, more than 500 young leaders from the region have been recognized. Recipients are honored for professional, personal, and civic commitment to improving the quality of life within Greater Boston.
