Sociedad Latina has released “The Silent Crisis:
Including Latinos and Why It Matters,” a report highlighting the low
levels of Latino representation in City government.
On December 2, 2014, the Greater Boston Latino Network held
a joint press conference with Mayor Marty Walsh to release “The Silent
Crisis.” The report, carried out by the Greater Boston Latino Network with
the support of the Barr Foundation, found that in Boston, Chelsea and
Somerville there is a gap between the presence and growth of Latino communities
and their representation in government office. Read the full report here.
Sociedad Latina and the Greater Boston Latino Network
believe that inclusive government is better government. Research shows that
representative bureaucracies are more likely to pursue the changes that are
necessary to remedy inequitable outcomes and serve the needs of
underrepresented communities.
Sociedad Latina would like to thank Mayor Walsh for his
support of the report and his commitment to increasing Latino representation
across the City of Boston. To complement this City-level work, we look forward
to working closely with our youth, families and community members to:
·
Develop and share our specific demands with City
of Boston officials
·
Build alliances with other under-represented
groups to improve services for all City residents
·
Collaborate with the City of Boston in
developing goals, strategies and oversight for their efforts to increase the
number of Latinos in government.

Your current web browser must be updated to version 7 of Internet Explorer (IE7) to take advantage of all of template’s capabilities.
Why should I upgrade to Internet Explorer 7? Microsoft has redesigned Internet Explorer from the ground up, with better security, new capabilities, and a whole new interface. Many changes resulted from the feedback of millions of users who tested prerelease versions of the new browser.
The most compelling reason to upgrade is the improved security. The Internet of today is not the Internet of five years ago. There are dangers that simply didn’t exist back in 2001, when Internet Explorer 6 was released to the world. Internet Explorer 7 makes surfing the web fundamentally safer by offering greater protection against viruses, spyware, and other online risks.
Get free downloads for Internet Explorer 7, including recommended updates as they become available. To download Internet Explorer 7 in the language of your choice, please visit the Internet Explorer 7 worldwide page.
