Nesta Baxter has claimed a top kickboxing scalp – after defeating a World and European champion.
The Bostonian defeated Karyna Nikitina in her -62kg continuous category at the Top Ten British Open 2015.
Nesta claimed gold in the category, one of four tournament victories at Birmingham’s NEC.
She also won three other categories – the -55kg womens’ continuous, -57kg girls’ point fighting and +62kg girls’ continuous categories.
Nesta also added a silver in the team event, fighting for Team Blue Blood (an international fight team) and a bronze in the -62kg point fighting category, losing to the current world champion by one point in extra time.
This puts Nesta in confident mood ahead of next month’s Bestfighter competition in Italy and the European Championships, held in Spain later this year.
Nesta also trains at Boston’s Evolution Martial Arts, where a number of other kickboxers also competed in Birmingham.
Josh Talbot,14, won his -57kg boys point fighting category, winning his final by a clear margin and showing his skills that have improved throughout the year.
Twelve-year-old Lucas Forinton came close to the gold but came home with a silver medal in his -37kg boys continuous category, while Archie Lenton, seven, fought a lot of rounds to earn his place in the final of his point fighting category.
Archie was in top form but he was narrowly beaten.
Harley Butterfield,9, also came away with a silver medal after loosing a brilliant final against a fighter from Bristol.
Leah Steadman, aged just five, also fought at the event, as did Paige Steadman, Vicki Bradford and Riley Brocklesby.
