Vanessa Williams totes talent to Mayor’s gala

Boston’s hosted its share of superstars from around the world, but actress, singer and all-around glam gal Vanessa Williams brought her megawattage talent to illuminate the best kind of message last night at the Mayor’s Office of New Bostonians We Are Boston Anniversary Gala.

The event, held at the Fairmont Copley Plaza hotel, is a celebration of diversity in the Hub. Throughout the evening, guests enjoyed multicultural musical and dance performances from local troupes and performers while noshing on small plates provided by Improper Bostonian magazine’s Boston’s Best honoree restaurants.

The main program included fab master of ceremonies Janet Wu of WHDH, a quick speech and killer performance by Williams, a live auction, and an awards ceremony led by Mayor Marty Walsh.
Among the onlookers: David Josef and Daniel Forrester, Elisha Daniels, Linda Holliday, Bill Emery, Michael Ratty, Improper Bostonian publisher Wendy Semonian, Paul Reeves, Cathy Angelini and Alan Rouleau.

Founded in 1997, the MONB was formed to help integrate immigrants into the local community. To learn more, head to cityofboston
