The Burn Is Back

The Red Sox are champions again, which means Boston may finally be returning to its rightful place of being loathed. For Bostonians, it is a strange thing to be liked. We’re used to being swamped with bile from the rest of the country, which seems perpetually annoyed at us for how we talk, how we root, and the fact that Hollywood has, for reasons past understanding, suddenly decided to set 70 percent of its movies somewhere between Charlestown and Southie. And yet, in the wake of April’s tragic Marathon bombings, all of the mockery stopped. The nation rallied to our side. Continue reading >>>

‘More Than F*cking History!’ Hilariously Drunk Bostonian Drops F-Bomb Live …

This just in: the Red Sox have won the World Series. And Bostonians are celebrating like mad tonight, a few of whom got to share their joy on the local news. Their drunk, unfiltered, hilariously profane joy. The last time the Sox won at home was in 1918, and 95 years later, one fan proudly shouted on TV, “I wasn’t alive during 1918, obviously! And this was MORE THAN F*CKING HISTORY!” The awkwardness of the whole situation was only heightened by the reporter’s polite reminder that they shouldn’t be swearing on the air, and the subsequent apology for how some people chose to celebrate Continue reading >>>

Affleck getting questions for Cardinals shirt

Ben Affleck is a diehard Boston Red Sox fan. Affleck, who's been in Cape Girardeau on and off for weeks filming the 20th Century Fox feature film "Gone Girl," is famously a Bostonian, and he loves his Sox. Photos circulated widely on local Internet sources a couple weeks back of Affleck wearing a St. Louis Cardinals T-shirt while shooting in Cape Girardeau with Tyler Perry. Of course, the Cardinals shirt was part of his character's outfit. What red-blooded fictional Missouri male wouldn't wear Cardinals gear? Now Internet media is picking up on the Cardinals T-shirt-wearing New Englander, Continue reading >>>

I’m Jealous Of Boston Fans, You Should Be Too –

Jarrod Saltalamacchia #39 of the Boston Red Sox (Photo by Ronald Martinez/Getty Images) Many say that this past Sunday for the Boston sports fan was among the greatest in their history. As a Bostonian might say, it was like a doubleheader of “Wicked Awesomeness”. I couldn’t agree more and I’m jealous of it. First, Tom Brady anchored another late game comeback in Foxborough against a tough Saints team. The various pass catchers names have changed throughout the years but as long as the guy throwing the pigskin is named Brady, we all can pretty much predict the outcome. Fans had just Continue reading >>>

Letters to the editor

ROADS TO BOSTON Thank you for the genuine, non-promotional responses to Boston (“Becoming Bostonian,” September 29). They made me realize that, though I grew up in Manhattan, it was time for me, too, to let go of my fiercely held New York Superiority Complex. This was reinforced when I realized that the current show I most want to see in New York, The Glass Menagerie, was a production first performed in Cambridge at the American Repertory Theater. When it was here I dismissed it, despite the rave reviews. My loss. Tam Lin Neville Somerville “Becoming Bostonian” starts off with Continue reading >>>

I am a Bostonian

Jeff Bussgang I was born and have lived in the Boston area almost all my life.  I went to school here, met my wife and married her here, built a family and pursued my career here.  I am a rabid fan of all the sports teams and love exploring and connecting with every nook and corner of this community.  Never have I been more proud of the resilience of my home town.  Never have I felt more meaning in the statement:  "I am a Bostonian."   In the Flybridge partners meeting this morning -- which Continue reading >>>
