The snowstorm that swept into the state early this morning dropped a foot of snow in some areas, the National Weather Service said. With temperatures dropping below freezing in the greater Boston area, refreezing of standing water is also likely, the weather service said. As of about 4 p.m., 9.7 inches of snow had been recorded at Logan International Airport in Boston. The highest total in Boston was 11.0 inches, recorded in West Roxbury. Boston, Cambridge lift parking bans at 5 p.m., icy conditions expected this evening

BOSTON -- As the latest snowstorm to hit the Greater Boston area begins to wind down, local officials are lifting parking bans in local communities. State Police are responding to a number of crashes across greater Boston and beyond this morning as a snowstorm blankets the state, dumping up to 2 inches of snow per hours in some communities. Report: MetroWest office vacancy highest in Greater Boston

Consolidations by some major employers in MetroWest caused the region's office vacancy rates to climb in the fourth quarter of 2013, according to data from global real estate broker Colliers International.More than 115,000 square feet of office space in MetroWest became empty over the quarter, causing the region's vacancy rate to climb from 26.8 to 27.6 percent.
