As a recent spat between Pat Moscaritolo, the head of the Greater Boston Convention Visitors Bureau, and his counterparts in Las Vegas showed, the people of Nevada seem to think Sin City and Puritan Boston are indistinguishable from each other. Casinos consider next steps in Massachusetts after voters in East Boston and …

BOSTON — Leaders of two gambling companies are considering their next steps after voters in Palmer and East Boston on Tuesday rejected plans for proposed casinos, possibly further reducing the number of applicants to open the state's first destination resort casino. East Boston Voters Reject Suffolk Downs Casino

Voters in East Boston rejected the Suffolk Downs casino application Tuesday, in a referendum that drew large turnout in that section of the city.The Boston Globe reported that voters in East Boston rejected the casino application by 56 percent, with 44 percent in favor. Voters in Revere approved the casino question, with 61 percent in favor. Spitting on Otsego Leads to Assault Charge: HdG Police Blotter

A 20-year-old Havre de Grace man from the 400 block of Bostonian Way was charged with second-degree assault after an incident involving a Comcast vehicle.Around 2:58 p.m. on Oct. 31, Comcast employees saw the man get into their van, which was parked in the 800 block of Otsego Street, and confronted him. The man started to walk away.When an employee followed him away from the van, the man turned and spit on him, police said.Officers found the suspect in the 900 block of Otsego Street and arrested him.
