Alleged ‘Ball Cap Bandit’ pleads not guilty

HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) - The man known as the "Ball Cap Bandit" entered a not guilty plea in court, Tuesday morning. Cedrick Lamond Hicks was indicted in August on nine counts of bank robbery and two counts of attempted bank robbery after he allegedly robbed several banks across north Alabama. The judge appointed Hicks a public defender at Tuesday's arraignment hearing, but he did not set bond. The maximum penalty for each robbery count is 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine. Former state and national homeland security advisor and Boston Globe columnist Juliette Kayyem has joined Greater Boston many times, but on Monday she made her first appearance with the show as Democratic gubernatorial candidate.  Kayyem discussed her background and the issues she said she would take on as governor of Massachusetts- like gun control- on Greater Boston.  "We have too many guns," the 44-year-old Cambridge resident told Emily Rooney. Letter: Roads too dangerous to ban bikes from sidewalks

I have traveled by bike in London, Holland, Honolulu and Japan. Nowhere have I been more terrified than in Greater Boston. Frank Caro’s suggestion that bicycles should be banned from all sidewalks in Brookline is outrageous. I would throw myself in front of an oncoming train before I would bike in Brookline traffic. The idea that painting “bike lanes” on already overfilled streets makes cyclists safe is absurd.
