Video Battle of the Bands is Coming to Patch

Patch will be starting collecting entries for our Video Battle of the Bands contest starting on April 9. The contest will pit bands from nearly three dozens communities in Greater Boston, the North Shore, Merrimack Valley, South Shore and Cape Cod and the Islands. The contest will work this way: We’ll ask local bands to upload a video of themselves performing an original song starting on Monday, April 9. We’ll collect entries over two weeks. Milton resident tops Boston magazine’s ‘Power List’

By Natalie Feulner, Town Correspondent A Milton resident is the “most influential individual in Boston," according to Boston magazine’s “The Power List,” a compilation of influential men and women in the Hub published Wednesday. John Fish, chairman and CEO of Suffolk Construction, outranked other well-known individuals including Governor Duval Patrick and Attorney General Martha Coakley. According to a news release about the list, Boston magazine editors spoke with “insiders” around the city to find powerful men and women in politics, business, cultural capital, and social networking. It is an age-old question: Which is a better professional sports town, New York or Boston? This question is not just a matter for scholarly debate. It is a ritualistic argument that allows fans to demonstrate their faith.  Much has been said about the relative performances of these two cities’ sports teams in the 20th century. Milton Resident Takes Top Spot in Boston Magazine’s ‘Power List’

Milton resident John Fish, the Chairman and CEO of Suffolk Construction, was recently named No. 1 on Boston Magazine’s “Most Powerful Bostonians” list. The annual issue was released on Wednesday and was celebrated the night before at McGladrey in Charlestown. According to Suffolk Construction’s website, Fish has built the company into one of the most successful privately-held building contractors in the U.S., with $1.7 billion in annual revenue.
