Newton-Wellesley Hospital welcomes first baby of the year

Newton-Wellesley Hospital announced that a baby girl Ahaana Prem was born at 12:08 a.m. on Jan. 1, 2013 — putting her in the running as the first baby born in the Greater Boston area in 2013.

Her mom is Sameeta Bilgrami and her father is Prem Ramasamy. Ahanna will take her father’s first name as her last.

The family lives in Waltham and Ahanna is their first child. She weighed 6 pounds, 15 ounces.
