Hamilton-Wenham captures CAL/NEC 4

Trevor Lyons stole the show as Hamilton-Wenham captured the CAL/NEC Tier 4 title with a 40-14 victory against Georgetown yesterday in South Hamilton.

The junior standout rushed for 167 yards and four touchdowns, leaving him 11 yards and three TDs away from breaking the school record in both categories.

Austin Roberts (17 carries, 147 yards, TD), Lucas DePina (TD, field goal), and the Brockton defense (two fumble recoveries, two INTs) carried the Boxers (5-5) to the Big Three championship following a 38-9 victory at New Bedford.

Jonathan DiBiaso tacked on four more touchdown tosses, completing 15-of-22 passes for 232 yards, as Everett (10-0) clinched the Greater Boston League with a 42-20 win over Malden.

Second-quarter touchdown runs from CJ Hanson and Bryan Reale helped Melrose (8-2) overcome host Stoneham, 20-3, in a Middlesex Small contest.

In CAL/NEC Tier 2, Mike Walsh threw for 247 yards and four touchdowns as Swampscott (9-1) tuned up for its winner-take-all showdown on Thanksgiving against Marblehead with a 33-15 victory over Gloucester.

Matt Owens threw for 270 yards and four touchdowns as Cathedral (10-0) coasted by Trinity Catholic, 40-8, to clinch the Catholic Conference Small title. . . . Jeff Borne caught six passes for 213 yards and three touchdowns as Pope John (Hyannis) defeated St. Clement, 36-20.

Hector Rivera rushed for a pair of touchdowns in the second half as Chelsea (5-4) clinched the Commonwealth Small title with a 14-6 win over North Shore. . . . Derek Bruce threw three touchdown passes, giving him a school-record 13 on the season, as Greater Lowell (4-5) defeated Mystic Valley, 32-20.

The duo of Nick Vitale (160 yards, three TDs) and Dan Arena (104 yards, two TDs) powered Austin Prep (3-6) to a 42-14 win over Archbishop Williams in the Catholic Central Large.

Joe Burgess’ interception return for a score in the second quarter gave Manchester Essex (4-6) a 7-6 victory over Lynnfield in CAL/NEC Tier 3 action.

Andrew McGrath rushed for 146 yards and three touchdowns as Whittier (6-4) defeated Lynn Tech, 30-8, in the Commonwealth Large.

Jake Petruzzelli threw for two scores and added a conversion to help South Shore (4-6) defeat West Bridgewater, 20-18, in the Mayflower Small.

Jack Connolly’s TD run in the third quarter gave St. Sebastian’s (6-2) a 19-18 victory over Thayer Academy in the ISL.
