Santa might have to skimp on the gifts this year and save some moolah if he wants to attend Sen. Scott Brown’s Christmas party.
The Massachusetts Republican on Friday invited his more than 30,000 Twitter followers to his holiday shindig, writing, “My family and I would love to see you at our upcoming Christmas party on Dec. 9.”
A link to the party’s website includes a message from the lawmaker that says, “Please join me, Gail, Arianna, Ayla, Doug The Flutie Brothers Band and a host of other special guests to celebrate the holiday season.”
But going to the Browns’ second annual Christmas get-together could cost some major Benjamins. The RSVP website for the celebration reveals that access to the party in a private suite at Boston’s Park Plaza Hotel will set attendees back a whopping $25,000! That better be one very merry party for that much dough.
By comparison, if you don’t mind getting your party on without the luxury of a private suite, the cost is cut to Christmas clearance-rack prices — a ticket to a host committee reception and photo-op runs a mere $2,500 per person.
For those looking to mingle around the mistletoe with the junior senator and still get a present to put under the Christmas tree, $500 gets a guest into the party’s general reception and a “personalized Christmas gift from Scott.”
Still, there is hope for those who can’t drop $25K for their fill of holiday cheer with Brown and his family. According to the Christmas party’s website, the “caroler” donation category can get one into the soiree for $25, while the “reindeer” tier costs $50 and donating in the “snowman” fundraising group runs $100.
ITK also hears that Brown’s office is encouraging partygoers to bring non-perishable items to the Christmas festivities to be donated to the Greater Boston Food Bank.
