Marsh McLennan Agency (MMA), a subsidiary of insurance broker Marsh Inc., has set forth a strategy to build a preeminent property/casualty and employee benefits organization to serve the needs of the middle market. And, the firm is acting on it. Just in the month of November, MMA announced three acquisitions: Seitlin Insurance, an insurance brokerage firms South Florida, Gallagher Associates Inc. a property/casualty insurance agency specializing in public school districts, and the employee benefits division of Kaeding, Ernst Company a Marlborough, Massachusetts-based employee benefits, life insurance, and financial planning consulting firm. Terms of all three transactions were not disclosed.

With an annual revenue of approximately $24 million and 119 employees in three Florida offices: Miami, Fort Lauderdale, and West Palm Beach, Seitlin will serve as MMA’s Florida hub. “Seitlin’s excellent reputation, strong management team, and blend of property/casualty and employee benefit business make it an ideal partner for MMA,” said Dave Eslick, chairman and CEO of MMA.

All of Seitlin’s employees and leadership team, including CEO Tom Cornish, will join MMA. “Joining MMA represents a great growth opportunity for Seitlin,” Cornish said. “As part of MMA, we will be able to continue our strong legacy of innovation and superior client service while also having access to the support and resources of the world’s leading insurance broker and risk adviser.

Gallagher Associates Inc., a $1 million property/casualty insurance agency specializing in public school districts, will operate within RJF, a Marsh McLennan Agency LLC company. The transaction is the first complementary acquisition for RJF, which MMA acquired in January 2011 to serve as its upper Midwest hub. “Gallagher Associates is a high-quality firm with a well-deserved reputation earned through years of exceptional client service and innovation to the public schools sector,” said Bill Jeatran, CEO of RJF/MMA.

The Gallagher Associates team will join RJF’s Minnesota office and continue in their current roles. “Joining RJF and Marsh McLennan Agency is the next step in our firm’s evolution,” said Tom Gallagher, principal and founder of Gallagher Associates. “As part of MMA, our clients will enjoy the same high-quality service they’ve come to expect from us. Additionally they’ll gain new and enhanced capabilities and resources from RJF/MMA to meet their needs.”

With approximately $600,000 in annual revenue, the employee benefits division of Kaeding, Ernst Company will become a part of Bostonian Group, a Marsh McLennan Agency company. The transaction is the second complementary acquisition for Bostonian/MMA following the February acquisition of the Boston office of Kinloch Consulting Group Inc., the employee benefits division of Kinloch Holdings Inc.

“Kaeding, Ernst has built a strong reputation of delivering trustworthy advice and innovative solutions to its employee benefit clients,” said Jim Blue, CEO of Bostonian/MMA. “We are delighted to welcome Tricia Mackoff and Linda DeJordy, two seasoned employee benefit professionals, to our expanding employee benefits team at Bostonian.
