Millions of Americans suffer from memory loss and that number is expected to soar as Baby Boomers age, note representatives of the Aviv Centers for Living. Now, you can have a chance to better understand what it’s really like to live with dementia and memory impairment when the Virtual Dementia Tour comes to the JCC of the North Shore, 4 Community Road, Marblehead, on Wednesday, Dec. 7. The training educates and sensitizes participants to the physical and mental challenges that dementia patients live with every day. Attendees will also hear from experts Janice Glick, a licensed social worker, and June Davis of Aviv Centers for Living.
“This training will give caregivers a unique perspective into the world of the dementia patient. It is an essential and enlightening experience,” Davis said.
Added Florence Henderson of Salem who participated in the Dementia Tour at Aviv Centers for Living held earlier this fall, “I thought it was very worthwhile. I wish I had done it earlier. After going through the Dementia Tour, I have lots more patience.”
There will be two, one-hour sessions offered during the evening. Session one will be from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., and session two will run from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. Each session is limited, so register in advance by calling 781-631-8330.
This program is sponsored by the JCC of the North Shore, Aviv Centers for Living, Virtual Dementia Tour and Hospice of the North Shore and Greater Boston.
