Workshop on coping with loss during holidays offered in Swampscott

The Bertolon Center for Grief Healing, a program of Hospice of the North Shore Greater Boston, will hold “Coping with the Holidays,” a free workshop, on Thursday, Dec. 8 from 6 to 8 p.m. at The First Church in Swampscott, Congregational at 40 Monument Ave., Swampscott.

According to Nancy Sherman, director of bereavement, dealing with the holidays isn’t easy even if you haven’t had a loss. But when you’ve had a loss, it can make the holidays even more stressful.

“The holidays create a combination of joy and memories. People look forward to them with hope and anticipation,” Sherman said. “Yet this time of year can be especially difficult when loved ones aren’t with us to share in the celebrations. People may feel depressed or not in the mood to be festive.”

Advance registration is required as space is limited. To register, contact the Bertolon Center for Grief Healing at 978-774-5100 or visit hnsgb.org.
