Rick Santorum: ‘Thank you, Iowa’

(NECN: Jim Braude) – Tuesday night is the Iowa caucus, and Jim Braude is convening his own caucus. It is with two of the movers and shakers in Massachusetts politics.

Braude’s guests are Karyn Polito, former republican legislator and candidate for state treasurer, and Christine Morabito, the newly-named president of the Greater Boston tea party.

Does the state have far too much importance in this presidential process?

“I think it’s amazing, but it starts the whole process,” said Polito. “It’s something around the world that everybody is watching today, so it’s exciting to get the process started. I think there will be three candidates that come out of this tonight in a strong, supercharged position going into New Hampshire then into South Carolina and Florida, but at the end of the month you might have a better idea of where things stand.”

What does the president of the Greater Boston Tea Party think about the Iowa caucus?

“Iowa is very bizarre because it’s a caucus,” said Morabito. “It’s not like anything we do around here. I’d love to go there and watch the process because it just seems fascinating.”

Watch the interview with Jim Braude to hear more of what Morabito and Polito think about the Iowa caucus.
