Nix’s Mate restaurant opening in Financial District

New England-inspired restaurant Nix’s Mate is about to land on Broad Street in the Hub’s Financial District this month.

The restaurant, which occupies the former space of Caliterra, boasts a 22-seat bar and 30-seat lounge area, expansive dining room holding up to 80 patrons, and both semi-private and private rooms.

Nix’s Mate takes its name from one of the smaller Boston Harbor Islands.

“We are thrilled to bring our interpretation of New England-inspired cuisine to the City of Boston,” said Aaron Sells, partner of Bostonian Hospitality Group. “With a menu that emphasizes fresh, local ingredients, an enthusiastic staff, and a refreshing design scheme, our efforts will reflect our appreciation for this historic area that we call home. Nix’s Mate will be among the most vibrant options in the Financial District for Bostonians to eat and imbibe.”

The cuisine, created and executed by Chef David Nevins, formerly of Todd English’s Olives as well as Neptune Oyster, will feature a fresh take on American cuisine with a seasonal and local influence. In addition to New and Old World wines, the restaurant will also have eight draught beers available, including local craft beers from producers such as Harpoon and Seadog Brewing Co.

Developed by Michael Nedeau of Party by Design, the space is accentuated by touches of reclaimed maple and dark walnut wood and stainless steel, while Mason jar lighting fixtures and custom chandeliers light the restaurant.
