Boston Labor Council endorses McGovern for Cambridge City Council

The Committee to Elect Marc McGovern announced that McGovern has received the endorsement of the Greater Boston Labor Council, representing 154 different unions in 24 communities, including Cambridge.

Political Director John S. Laughlin, of the Painters and Allied Trades District Council 35, a member of the GBLC, stated, “(McGovern) earned Painters District Council #35’s endorsement based on his record as a School Committee member, his positions supporting job creation, responsible development and his commitment to improving the quality of life for Cambridge residents.”

“I’m very excited to announce that I have received the endorsement of the Greater Boston Labor Council,” said McGovern. “To have the support of such professions as teachers, construction workers, police, fire, transit workers, janitors and manufacturing workers who are represented by the GBLC is humbling. My commitment to working families is strong and I will be a champion for worker’s rights if elected to the Cambridge City Council. My deepest thanks to the GBLC for their faith in me.”

McGovern is currently serving his fourth term on the Cambridge School Committee where he has supported vocational education, and apprentice and job training programs. He is running for Cambridge City Council.
