JetBlue Offers Details on New Boston – Costa Rica Route

JetBlue Costa RicaThanks to JetBlue Airways, residents of the Greater Boston area in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts can now board a flight from Logan International Airport (BOS) and in just a few hours they could find themselves enjoying the pristine beaches of Costa Rica’s Gold Coast. On November 1st, JetBlue announced a strategy to connect New England residents with choice Latin American and Caribbean destinations.

JetBlue is a discount airline that has become the most active in the busy BOS airport. Although JetBlue started as passenger flight operator that mostly offered discount flights on U.S. air commuter routes, in recent years the airline has been offering attractive vacation packages. The new service from BOS to the Daniel Oduber Quiros International Airport (LIR) in Liberia, province of Guanacaste, is a new seasonal weekly service for the airline. This new flight bypasses the Juan Santamaria International Airport (SJO) altogether; this makes it an attractive options for New England residents who are seasoned travelers to Costa Rica and who wish to head straight to the beach.

Ed Freni, Director Aviation for Massport, explained in a JetBlue press release that:

JetBlue’s continued expansion in the Caribbean market brings the number of nonstop international destinations from Boston Logan to 40, which is up from 28 eight years ago. We congratulate JetBlue for starting these important routes which will provide New Englanders new ways to escape the winter.

Travel Agent Central, an online publication dedicated to the vacation industry, recently commented on JetBlue’s route expansion in Costa Rica, which brings great convenience to travelers who no longer have to fly to New York before arriving in our country:

Located in the northwestern corner of Costa Rica, the [Guanacaste] region presents a diverse geography and boasts many of Costa Rica’s most popular beaches and mountain terrain.

Visitors can challenge themselves with a surf lesson, cool off under a waterfall at Rincón de la Vieja National Park, explore the inlets and mangrove swamps of the southern side of the region, marvel at the arrival of the Ridley sea turtles at the Ostional Wildlife National Refuge or discover Barra Honda National Park, home to Costa Rica’s only underground caves.

Flights depart Boston at 7 a.m. on Saturdays and arrive in Costa Rica at 11: 38 a.m., while return flights leave Costa Rica at 12:40 p.m. and arrive back in Boston at 7 p.m. JetBlue has also added more flights from New York to Liberia, Orlando to San Jose and Fort Lauderdale to San Jose.
