Three doctors join hospice staff

 

 

 

Care Dimensions, formerly Hospice of the North Shore Greater Boston, recently added three new physicians to its hospice and palliative care program. This brings the number of full-time hospice and palliative care physicians on-staff to eight with each physician focused on managing the care of hospice patients and providing palliative care consultations for pain management and quality of life issues for patients with advanced illness.

“We are excited to welcome these experienced and innovative physicians to our team,” said Stephanie Patel, MD, FAAHPM, and Chief Medical Officer for Care Dimensions.

Larissa Lucas, MD, FACP, of Salem, will have an additional role as Medical Director of Quality and she will be focusing on patient safety, evidence-based practice, and team approaches to care at end of life. Dr. Lucas joined the Care Dimensions medical staff in 2009, serving in a part-time capacity at the Kaplan Family Hospice House. Dr. Lucas is a graduate of the University of Massachusetts Medical School and is an instructor in internal medicine at Harvard Medical School. She is board eligible for Hospice and Palliative Care certification.

Joel Bauman, MD, of Sudbury joined Care Dimensions this past September and was most recently the hospice medical director at Good Shepherd Community Care in Newton. He is a graduate of the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. He completed his medical trainings in internal medicine, geriatrics and palliative care at Boston City Hospital, Harvard Medical School and Massachusetts General Hospital. He is board certified in Hospice and Palliative Care Medicine.

Mary Valliere, MD, of Acton also joined Care Dimensions this past September and was most recently a consultant for the expansion of MOLST (Medical Orders for Life Sustaining Treatment) in Massachusetts. Board certified in hospice and palliative medicine, she is a graduate of the University of Massachusetts Medical School, where she is currently an assistant professor of medicine. She is board eligible for Hospice and Palliative Care certification.
