Parker claims boxing victory

Boston Amateur Boxing Club cadet fighter Callum Parker earned a unanimous victory in Leeds.

Fighting on a Hunslet ABC show he faced a tough opponent from York ABC.

Parker’s opponent was a formidable fighter and the Bostonian had to work for every point in a bout where neither boxer wanted to concede any ground.

However, when the final bell was sounded – it was Parker who had his arm raised in victory.

On the same bill, fellow Boston ABC fighter Aaron Johnson was matched against home-town favourite Billy Davidson.

After a disappointing outing on his home show in November, Johnson was cautious at the start.

Boxing of the back foot, he was making steady progress and matched his opponent in the ring.

Entering the final round, the contest could go either way and Johnson was urged to take the fight to his fellow southpaw.

However, Davidson was handed the unanimous decision, with the Boston camp left feeling the bout was closer than the outcome.

Boston ABC’s Field Street Gym is now hosting keep fit sessions for youngsters on Saturday mornings, running from 9am to 10am.
