Greater Bostonian: Carrol Stephens

Meet Greater Bostonian, Carrol Stephens, who is helping people with brain injuries thrive. She founded the nonprofit Supportive Living in 1997, after her son suffered a severe brain injury. The mission of Supportive Living is to raise the quality of life for survivors of brain injury. To achieve this mission, “Supportive Living develops appropriate and affordable housing, and provides life-long physical, cognitive, and social fitness programs designed to improve the lives of those affected by brain injury.” Supportive living consists of four residencies throughout Massachusetts, with 45 units in all. “My goal was to create an organization that would have a strong foundation and be there for many many years, long after I’ve passed away,” Carrol says, “and I believe we have it.”
