Boston singer seeks beauty in the face of sadness

BOSTON songstress Michelle Lewis is set to perform at the Ardhowen Theatre at the end of this month.

Lewis’s music is rich with melody, and her lyrics seek beauty in the face of sadness.

Too refined to call folk and too personal to call pop, her music surprises listeners who think they know what to expect from a singer-songwriter, and those who never expected to like one.

As a storyteller, she writes intensely visual songs rich with melodic texture and emotional depth, and she performs with an unmistakable swagger.

The LA-based Bostonian singer-songwriter comes to Enniskillen as part of a debut Ireland and UK tour in support of her acclaimed 2014 album ‘The Parts Of Us That Still Remain’.

She picked up her father’s acoustic guitar at the age of 14 and quickly abandoned interest in everything else.

Honing her songwriting at Berklee College of Music in her hometown of Boston, she went on to tour the United States behind her first album, ‘This Time Around’ (2004).

Lewis has been a long time collaborator with producer Anthony J. Resta, working together on the EPs Broken (2009) and Paris (2011), and in 2014 she released her second full-length album which includes songs co-written by Nashville favourite Robby Hecht and LA sound designer Conan Skyrme.

See her in concert at the Ardhowen on Wednesday, June 24.
